Lake Walk Receives Prestigious Honor from Engineering News-Record

Award Recognizes Nelsen Partners with Best Small Project in Texas & Louisiana

(BRYAN, Texas) – Lake Walk, the vibrant town center featuring lifestyle and outdoor pursuits, announces its Pavilion was honored with the Best Small Project award from the Engineering News-Record’s Texas & Louisiana publication.

The award recognized Lake Walk’s Pavilion as the top small project under $10 million. Designed by Austin-based Nelsen Partners, the Lake Walk Pavilion hosts many events throughout the year including the town center’s lively Eats and Beats concert series and The Local, a weekly artisan market.

Lake Walk’s Pavilion was one of 42 projects Engineering News-Record’s team of judges honored across 18 categories. Considered the leading source for engineering and construction news, Engineering News-Record reports on the top design firms, both architects and engineers, and the top construction companies as well as projects in the United States and around the world.

The winners will be honored at an awards ceremony in Houston on October 18.

“The vision and process between Nelsen Partners and our team at Lake Walk to not only create an entertainment venue and Pavilion, but more importantly create a sense of place is what is satisfying about this award,” says Casey Sandlin, Development Manager at Lake Walk Town Center. “The Pavilion has become the focal point of our community, gathering groups of people for farmer’s markets, concerts, triathlons and weddings. Our team is very proud to have it recognized through this award.”

"We wanted to place a special object in the park, designed to inspire the community to create unique and memorable ways to gather and celebrate at ATLAS,” adds Philip Crisara, Executive Vice President at Nelsen Partners. “We hoped that the community would consider the Pavilion their own and find both grand and intimate uses for it, both day and night. We are excited that it continues to be utilized beyond our imagination.”

In addition to Eats and Beats and The Local, Lake Walk’s signature events include weekly health and wellness activities, a triathlon and a Gran Fondo cycling event. The town center also features a plaza, a waterfront park on Lake ATLAS, The Lookout observation deck and newly opened retail space.
