(BRYAN, Texas) – Lake Walk, the lively town center featuring lifestyle and outdoor pursuits, will host the first ever BCS Yoga Fest on April 15.
Sponsored by Lake Walk, CHI St. Joseph Health Mature Well Lifestyle Center, Nutrabolt, Lululemon College Station, and the ATLAS Athletics Race Series, the yoga event, which occurs from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m., features four yoga sessions, including a general session designed to be the largest ever conducted in the Brazos Valley. Each session will be led by yoga instructors from local studios including Sol Yoga, Yoga Pod, Yoga District, and Yoga & Hops. Each session will also include modifications like chair yoga led by CHI St. Joseph Health MatureWell Lifestyle Center and a pregnancy yoga modification as well. Participants will also have the opportunity to try any of the sessions while on paddle boards on Lake Atlas.
“It’s an amazing opportunity to host the BCS Yoga Fest for those motivated to live a healthy lifestyle,” says Justin Shulse, Director of Operations for Lake Walk Town Center. “Anytime you can combine health, yoga, outdoors, community, relationships and like-minded companies all into a dramatic park setting like Lake Walk, it’s a win for everyone.”
BCS Yoga Fest is free and open to the public, and all levels of fitness are welcome. Registration can be done online or at the Lake Walk Pavilion on the day of the event. A Kids Zone, sponsored by the Children’s Museum of the Brazos Valley, will be on-site, along with food and other festivities for yoga enthusiasts and their guests. “Being a part of what we believe will be the largest yoga event in Bryan / College Station is an opportunity we don’t want anyone to miss,” adds Kyron Green, community impact manager for Nutrabolt. “We encourage everyone to come out and enjoy Lake Walk as we work towards being a healthier and happier community together. We look forward to spreading our energy and passion for people at this historic event.”
Lake Walk is Bryan/College Station’s premier destination to engage the senses. Ongoing are Lake Walk Town Center’s signature events including The Local and Eats and Beats Concert Series. Health and wellness activities abound; in addition to the BCS Yoga Fest, free outdoor community yoga classes take place every Saturday at 8 a.m., with Stroller Strides – a weekly fitness class for families with young children – occurring immediately after.
“Yoga is at the core of Lululemon and community is the core of the College Station showroom,” adds Alyson Kastner, assistant manager of the College Station Lululemon showroom. “We cannot wait to combine the two, to bring the practice of yoga to the Bryan / College Station community in an impactful way, uniting all yoga studios together for one goal.”
Earlier this month, Lake Walk hosted the Third Annual Gran Fondo cycling event. In addition, Lake Walk has partnered with the Children’s Museum of the Brazos Valley by providing a platform through community events to bring awareness to “Play Aggieland,” a project that promotes learning, discovery, and health and wellness.
