BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX) - Hundreds of people raced in the Atlas Triathlon in Bryan, Saturday.
The participants started off by swimming in Lake Atlas, behind the Stella Hotel.
The triathletes continued with a 12-mile bike ride and a three-mile run to complete the race.
Participants said the race promotes health and unity.
"The concept of a triathlon, from a communal perspective, is about getting people out, being active and just engaging in a healthy fitness lifestyle. It's amazing what just simply moving and being around like-minded individuals can do for you. For your state of mind, for your physicality and for your vitality as you age," said Andrew Sidwell.
This year's fastest triathlete completed the entire triathlon in less than 54 minutes.
